My gf is Vietnamese. I've been really wanting to learn Vietnamese. This app is very helpful and accurate. She sits with me sometimes as I learn and even she's impressed. Google translate isn't very accurate, don't use it. I googled how to say "how are you", I really said "hi". But, this app is accurate and even in the correct spelling. I recommended it, and it's free!

It's one thing to put ads on a free version of an app but this one has them popping up with extreme frequency. I've seen ads that force you to watch for 30 seconds (intolerable) but this app's ads are not close-able unless/until you actually click on the ad, which pops up a new tab in Safari. In my view that is a bridge too far and makes this app unusable. I will give the benefit of the doubt however, and assume this is a fixable glitch to make the ads close when the "x" is pressed. I would pay 1-2 bucks for an app like this and skip the distraction and inconvenience of ads altogether, and there are better apps available for free and ad free at that. Nevertheless, there's enough decent content here for a beginner like myself to learn a few things, and assuming the ads get modified to make the app usable, I'm giving it the full 2 stars it will deserve once the ads are fixed (as opposed to the 1 star it deserves right now).

I have several Vietnamese language apps, and this is by far the best in terms of the range of vocabulary offered.

The content in this app is great, but the ads pop up too often and you have to wait an unusually long time to close them. There also isn’t a pay option to buy the app, meaning that you are stuck with the ads all the time. I feel like I spend more time looking at the ads than the actual vocabulary on the app.
