Description
ACV Auctions is a dealer-to-dealer marketplace. The app replaces the physical wholesale car auctions that facilitate the sale of approximately 15 million vehicles every year. This platform allows dealers to engage in our live 20 minute auctions. It's easy for sellers to create an auction. Simply scan the VIN, enter vehicle condition information, and snap a few photos. Tap "Send to Auction" and your auction is instantly sent to thousands of potential bidders. Buyers review the condition report and bid to own using live and proxy bids. Auctions are live for 20 minutes. The system prevents last-second bid sniping so you're sure to get a fair chance in every auction. Once an auction ends, sellers can accept or send the high bidder a counter offer to start a live, real-time negotiation session with the buyer. Buyers can accept the counter offer or negotiate further. All of this right from the convenience of your mobile phone. All payments and title transfers are handled through our office. Buyers can pay instantly with an electronic check or floorplan. For sellers, we email prepaid FedEx® labels for sending in titles. Bill of sales get emailed for your records. ACV Auctions is free for dealers to use. There are no monthly fees or contracts. Our buyer and seller fees are considerably lower than physical auctions. Great business model and concept and mobile friendly - but the app needs work. Should be able to turn off notifications for certain actions. Keep getting notified of auctions starting for vehicles I'm not interested in. Or even in general should have the option to add to favorites and receive notifications for those. And also to view upcoming next day sales ahead of time to add them to favorites and bid when auction is active. Minor stuff just for ease of use. Kind of annoying to keep getting notifications for every car. Needs some other things too but i guess overtime its a trial and error thing.

After purchasing over 200 vehicles on this platform I learned valuable lessons. For a seller this is awesome, the inspectors are very open to $tips and are paid by vehicles selling that they inspect. We received alot of vehicles that were staged for photos and missing parts. If something is listed as not working or light on the entire system can be stripped out of the vehicle and photos purposely taking to hide those areas. We received one vehicle that had been on fire underneath and the undercarriage photos wasnt present for that reason and no coverage applied. One with convertible top not working and the pump, all control modules and wiring cut out of vehicle and purposely didnt lift trunk mat to show the carnage. (They did cover the missing spare tire for that one though ?‍♂️) Titles are a whole other story, we were forced to wait for over a year in some circumstances and they would not unwind. Lots of horrific fluid leaks are hidden on purpose. Once you get a vehicle unwound and i...

Great app, but awful way of building inventory. You will receive vehicles with many unannounced issues, that were missed by very inexperienced “inspectors”. I have purchased 50+ vehicles from ACV. At least 50% of the vehicles I receive have various ranging issues. I have purchased some very nice vehicles through this platform, but it’s not worth the risk. I have also experienced large losses ($5,000+) on several occasions. I have never before had losses like that in my business. This also doesn’t address the title nightmare you will have with ACV. I know they’re a growing company, but over time, I find the errors to be inexcusable. Titles are always delayed, and also way too frequently arrive with issues creating a nightmare getting them flipped. ACV is an amazing platform, but years away from being a reliable source of inventory. Stick with Manheim and Adesa for now. Arbitration isn’t fun to work with either. They take any quote you receive, for items they will actually cover (not man...

I wish they would follow NAAA guidelines on arbitration, otherwise they have been a great company to work with. I have bought at least 80 cars this year, shop bills have fallen in line with those that I purchase at regular auctions, but I did have one that would have been covered by Manheim or Adesa arbitration policies, but wasn’t because ACV doesn’t follow NAAA guidelines. As a seller, what more can I ask for, I get paid in timely manner once they have received the titles. I can have them out very quickly as well to do inspections. The app needs some work, I wish we could switch to landscape mode on the ipad app.
